Gosh this really hit home! I’ve used alcohol to numb my mind (undiagnosed ND) and anxiety my whole adult life.

You’re right it doesn’t go down well with certain friends… slowly coming to terms with quitting, I have never really socialised sober - ever 🥺 so scary!

Really resonated with this! I stopped drinking alcohol ages 19 and have never looked back. It was strange (for other people) going through university without drinking alcohol, and I’ve had a few comments over the years like ‘we’ll get you drinking again’, but other than that it’s been mostly positive.

I never liked the taste of alcohol, how it made me feel, and especially the hangovers. I just didn’t like not being in control and feeling rubbish afterwards. I can honestly say I’ve not missed it, and I will never drink again 😊

Actually dolphins get high on puffer fish, and young chimps (I think that was the primate) spin around to make themselves dizzy.

Not that I'm disagreeing. I personally don't understand those who can't be left alone with their thoughts (I LOVE a nice quiet house! )

This was so good. I, too, was a big drinker in my 20s. Kept it going in my 30s but started taking longer to bounce back. I cold turkey quit it in my early 40s and haven't looked back. Unfortunately it appears I did lose friends but obviously they werent really my friends. It felt more like a rebirth for me. I've been working hard on being present. Just enjoying life and living. Trying to seek new friendships is slow but I'm ok. Thanks for this! Good reminder for me that I made the right choice. 3.5 years no alcohol and I just don't regret it.
